Nothing delights us more than learning of a brand new haunted attraction. Constructed just on the outskirts of Atlanta in Powder Springs, The Honey Shack Haunted House is our Most Anticipated New Attraction for 2016. The team at The Honey Shack have done an outstanding job teasing their haunted house and we were delighted to obtain an exclusive interview with the owners to learn more about this new Atlanta haunt and what guests can expect this Fall.
Huge fans of old school style haunted houses, owners Ken Harris and Jeff Scarborough wanted to create an environment incorporating the feels of an old school haunt while adding new trends of blood and craziness (thanks to inspiration from modern day movies and TV shows). The creative duo met while working at Disney and knew they were destined to open their own attraction someday. They’ve done their homework over the years; preparing, conducting research, and even traveling to over 200 haunted houses in 7 states. No strangers to the haunt industry, Ken and Jeff, have been home haunters for the last seven years and knew 2016 was the perfect time to go professional and bring their vision of “Small Town Terror” to life.
How will The Honey Shack add to the Atlanta haunted attraction industry? Ken teases “We like the creepy and raw feel to a haunted house. The big animatronics are amazing and are a perfect fit for many places but we like the more immersive approach. Our aim is to drop you smack down in the middle of your very own horror movie. We want chills to run down your spine…“
Guests of The Honey Shack Haunted House will find themselves entering a North Georgia mountain roadside tourist attraction owned by The Scruggs family. Years have not been kind to The Honey Shack after the interstate cut through and the family lost their bread and butter. They will do anything to get people to stop in now. During Halloween they put on their own “haunted house” and you’ll find yourself going through their store picking up fresh honey while grazing through the halls of Horrors. They love old school things like Werewolves, Witches, and Clowns. One must be careful as you make your way through…stories have circulated about people getting lost and finding themselves face to face with the Scruggs family in their own home. Locals report strange noises coming from the property but is there any truth to the reports of missing persons throughout the area? Find out for yourself, if you dare, we invite you to explore The Honey Shack this fall.
Are you ready for the challenge? This walk through haunted attraction will run select nights beginning Friday, September 30th. The Honey Shack Haunted House is not recommended for small children but is a great place for a family to experience a little Halloween fun for the season. Grab your loved ones, a date, or a big group of friends and venture out to The Honey Shack.
